clay work 1984-1994

This body of work addresses the nature and significance of balance; the literal and metaphoric balance of contrasts inherent in the forms.  Pieces are positioned on a fine point, a small foothold, to grow to grace from rough or contrasting bases. This is a tenuous balance of contrasts and contradictions. Vessels refer to the precarious equilibrium of growth; seeking to balance opposing forces. Seeking to find the point, the fine line in-between; the place where we find balance and belonging.
